    My answer is "yes". May be, you're right about Windows settings, but I didn't change any of them, and just one day I woke up, and the problems started. Meanwhile, I really appreciate your help, but today is a great day:

    I don't know your architecture, but there are some relatively easy things you could do to ease the load on the server(s):

    1. Use a PHP accelerator like XCache and gain >100% in processing power
    2. Serve the static files through lighttpd or similar
    3. Check the MySQL slow query log and benchmark common queries

    Nested selects. First select puts your preferred language on top, then the subquery pulls the rest of the languages (using NOT IN), order by whatever the masses decide. Put them together with a join. Like I said, it's a pain in the butt and uses up more query cycles. With thousands of users, performance is going to take a big hit.

    I have now researched this somewhat extensively.
    Apparently there is no way to demux or extract xsubs (DivX subs) from an avi container.
    The most recent post I found was from 2012, wherein someone had contacted the developer of DXSB and the developer admitted he had no idea how to extract the file from the avi container.
    I suppose this query can be closed.  Grrr.

    I voted Top 5 Langs, but a better solution would be to have user preferences to have "Preferred Language" and show the preferred at the top. That's just my two cents.

    PS - I'm also a developer, and a DB admin. I know it's a pain in the butt, and having custom language preferences per user uses up more query cycles.

    I have definitely lost the plot with this forum. Am I correct English subs are incomplete but Dutch is proceeding./
     
    Dutch speakers in this forum and anyone who lives n the Netherlands, I found this on Maarktplaats.nl. Various sellers claiming to have Borgen season 3, I presume in Dutch. Does this help?

    A bad thing happened, an entity named BREIN is at work trying to get the image out that subtitling is an illegal activity. Multiple sites were sent cease and desist orders and settled out of court and disappeared.
    Thesubbay was created to resist this trend, and it's core values are freedom and liberty. Look at  http://thesubbay.com  to get a glimpse.
    Now for my introduction:
    I'm working to get thesubbay up and running, and could use your help!
    What is the best way to get some content on the site? I guess ripping all of Addic7ed is a bad idea...
    Is there an api to query?  Or can I create a cache?
     
    I will also make sure to get some original works on the site, and we can share those as well.
     
    All in all, the site is functional. Good

    Email activation doesn't seem to work.

    Might be because of this:

    Hello, I am a computer programmer (developer, project manager, director R & S), and I want to help addic7ed in translation.

    I want to develop support has translated into three points:
    -On each sentence, see if that sentence did not translated in a previous episode or why not another series.
    Then-on sentences or there has been no matches to make a query on an online translator
    And finally put the result of translation into a suggestion box between the original sentence and that in translation ... (this box also allow the translator to make a sentence in pre-prod .. (not yet validated ... because as you know certainne sentence are sometimes difficult to translate ...


    This a quick blank my explanation ... I prefer to tell me directly with a developer ... )

    On Marktplaats.nl (=Dutch ebay version) three versions are sold.
     
    3 DVD set with Homegrown subtitles. 
    The Official 4  DVD Dutch release of Borgen 3.
    Copies of the official release.
     
    I don't know what kind of help you are expecting, but don't expect to receive the official release for the sum of 5 Euro.
     
    All I can say is that the Dutch subtitles that I'd uploaded were extracted (OCR) from the Official Dutch Release.

    re. "Corrected" - depends when the lines went missing. "n17t01" is one of the best, hardest working subtitlers, and maybe the lines got deleted after he uploaded the file.
     
    I personally have nothing but praise for this site and I hope they keep up the great work.

    Si vraiment il faut virer "Maudit enfer" et c'est bien dommage, alors "Saperlipopette" me semble approprié afin de garder le côté fun, mais tout le reste "galère/histoire/bazar" franchement, je n'arrive pas à l'entendre dans la bouche du Valet.

    Quand à "le pays du dessous" ou "le pays soutterain" ou tout autre dans le style, comme à mon habitude, je trouve ça beaucoup moins poétique. Nous sommes dans un conte, je privilégie ce côté-là, peut-être à tort.

    I guess you thought that to avoid translating the previously, right?

    As you know, the exact same phrase can have different meaning with different context, but offering previous translations as suggestions, it's not a bad idea.
    (although kind of heavy to search through all the DB to look for a match of each line)



    I don't really agree with all of that, mainly because online translators are not that good + people are quite lazy and they will just select to "validate" it instead of looking for the right translation.

    Another thing, it's that online translators (google translator for example) have limits (size and time between the querys)
    and I'm not entirely sure we don't overpass those limits with the traffic we would generate.


    Anyway, we really appreciate the suggestions to improve the web, and we'll try to research about if and how we can do them.
